The ‘Encuentro de Pueblos’ is back this weekend, 5th and 6th October, at the Ibiza Fairgrounds

‘Recovering the Encuentro de Pueblos has been a goal of all of us, in this sense the improvement of subsidies for entities and the possibility of resuming this meeting have been marking the lines of the meetings that we have been holding these months,’ explained councillor Marilina Ribas at a press conference, who explained that this cultural event intends to return to the island the celebration of this meeting point, ’because we must not lose sight of the fact that the island brings together a wonderful melting pot of cultures.

The Encuentro de Pueblos will be held at the Recinto Ferial on Saturday 5 October, from 10:00 to 20:00, and on Sunday 6 October, from 10:00 to 18:00. Councillor Ribas explained that in this cultural event, ‘we will find a sample of each association with dances, traditional costumes, gastronomy or typical handicrafts from each region’. Admission is free, and the event will feature the participation of associations from Cantabria, Bolivia, Tahiti, the Philippines, Valencia, Paraguay, Ecuador and, from the Slavic Roots Association, Bulgaria, Poland, Ukraine, Romania and Russia, as well as the Federation of Dance and Popular Culture Groups of Eivissa, representing the island.

This cultural event will feature a free tasting of dishes from around the world at midday, from 13:00 to 15:00, followed by world music performances throughout the day and a children’s entertainment area.

Councillor Marilina Ribas concluded by thanking all the participating associations, ‘There is very close cooperation and collaboration between the various regional organisations taking part, of which there are no new ones in total, and which have created a network of support to be able to set up this event, which has not been held in Ibiza for 8 years, and which is an opportunity to reflect and share the richness and multiculturalism that exists on our island’.
