Last Friday, the Directorate General for European Funds of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation organised an information day on ‘Ayudas 2024.

State Aid and Regional Incentives aimed at entrepreneurs in the autonomous community in the auditorium of the Confederation of Business Associations of the Balearic Islands (CAEB). The event, which was a great success in terms of participation, presented the main aspects of State Aid and Regional Incentives, as well as current calls for applications with European funds and opportunities for access to financing.

The session, which was held both in person and online, was attended by the director general of European Funds, Bárbara Barceló; the secretary general of the CAEB, Sergio Beltrán; the head of the area of funds, programmes and projects at the Balearic Islands Foundation for External Action (FIBAE), Antoni Reinoso; the owner and CEO of the Balearic farm, Bárbara Barceló; the owner and CEO of the Balearic Islands farm, Bárbara Barceló; and the secretary general of the CAEB, Sergio Beltrán; the owner and CEO of the Treurer estate (Algaida), Miquel Miralles; the head of the Legal, Administrative and Coordination Department, Francisca Gomila; the head of the European Funds Department, Fernando Romera, and the head of the Project Monitoring Department, Marta Neus López.

Bárbara Barceló, in the presentation of the conference, highlighted the value of the agreement that the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Innovation has signed with the CAEB to support the business sector of the Islands. Barceló assured that European aid does not end with the de minimis and that other forms of financing open up very interesting avenues for certain business sectors. ‘The Directorate General of European Funds is the bridge between European and national funding sources and the business fabric,’ he stressed.

Antoni Reinoso, head of the area of funds, programmes and projects at the Balearic Islands Foundation for External Action (FIBAE), detailed the procedure and requirements to be eligible for Regional Incentive grants. The success story came from Miquel Miralles, owner and CEO of the Treurer estate (Algaida), who explained his experience as a beneficiary.

On the other hand, Francisca Gomila, head of the Legal, Administrative and Coordination Department, reviewed the open and planned calls with MRR funds, specifying the potential beneficiaries and deadlines. For his part, Fernando Romera, Head of the European Funds Department, explained the lines of aid from the structural funds aimed at strengthening sustainable growth and employment of SMEs in the Balearic Islands.

Finally, Marta Neus López, head of the Project Monitoring Department, demonstrated the basic communication channels of the Directorate-General for European Funds, such as the microsites (ibfonseu.caib.es; programeseuropeus.caib.es and oie.caib.es) and the e-mail addresses (suportpime@oie.caib.es; info@oie.caib.es and projectes@oie.caib.es).
