The hospitals of Inca and Son Espases organise two exhibitions to coincide with World Mental Health Day

Under the title ‘I am not my diagnosis’, the Hospital Comarcal de Inca presents the photographs that are the result of a photographic project created collectively by people who know about mental suffering, to show the reality and contribute to the fight against the stigma associated with this group. The photographs show how people with mental suffering and health staff (who also suffer) have portrayed each other and how they have learned from each other.

‘The powers that I need’ is the title of the exhibition inaugurated at the Hospital Universitario Son Espases and organised by the Balearic Institute for Childhood and Adolescence (IBSMIA).

It is in letter format with illustrations and text, and some forty works are on display. It was the result of an exercise in which work was carried out to answer the question ‘And you, which letter do you think can help you the most? From there, the participants imagined that they had a card that has the power to enable them to successfully deal with emotional and mental health difficulties.

Among the results of this work, different cards have emerged such as the card of the childhood theatre (where you write about your ideal childhood and the puppets perform a show in order not to forget this period of your life); the card of the rebirth of the Phoenix (you can be born again, rise from the ashes); or the card of the anti-worry plane (which has the power to stop time and the ability to disconnect from all the problems).
