The renewed Breeder’s Grand Prix is celebrated with the heart-stopping victory of KANDY DE LADIL and S. Pocoví

This Saturday, the Hipódromo de Son Pardo was the setting for the Hispanidad festival, a day of trotting which had not been held for 8 years and which was a great success in terms of attendance.

The forecasts did not fail and the favourite horses took the first positions right from the start. From almost the beginning of the race, number 3, followed by number 5 has been setting the pace and has been standing out from the pack, demonstrating their quality and potential in a long-distance race.

In the last corner, we have lived a heart-stopping end of the Grand Prix with the overtaking of KANDY DE LADIL, led by S. Pocoví, putting himself in first position a few seconds before crossing the finish line and taking the precious winner’s trophy. His time was 1’15‘20, followed by KIWI DURAN and G. Andreu, riding at 1’15’30. The third place on the podium went to KASTA MAKER SB and A. Roca, who reached the finish line at 1’16″10.

The brand new champions have received the award from the hands of the second vice-president and Minister of Environment, Rural Environment and Sports, Pedro Bestard, accompanied by the president of the Institute of Equestrian Sport of Mallorca, Gaspar Oliver, the president of the Balearic Trotting Federation, Juan Llabata and the president of ASTROT, Rafel Manera. A trophy that has been recovered from the old one and shows a tender image of a mare feeding her baby.

The second vice-president Pedro Bestard, after presenting the prize to the winner of the vibrant race, said he was especially happy ‘to have been able to recover this Breeder’s Grand Prix thanks to the effort and involvement of everyone and that, as we have seen, it has been very well received by breeders and owners’.

‘We are proud that such an important race has been held for the trotting world in Mallorca, especially on such an important date as 12th October’, added Pedro Bestard.

The Breeder’s Grand Prix returns to the tracks

The promotion of the breeding of the Spanish trotting horse is the main objective of all the entities of the trotting sector, aimed at consolidating and increasing the births of trotting horses within our Autonomous Community and strengthening the breeding activity of horse production within our agricultural sector.

That is why, thanks to the joint work of several key entities of the Balearic equestrian sector, this renewed GPC is now a reality that has come back to stay. This race has a distance of 2,650 metres and a prize fund of 84,440 euros, the second most important race for national horses after the Gran Premio Nacional.

The day started at 11:45 am with the morning session with 3 races among which the Memorial Guillermo Caldentey, which was run by FAVARY and F. Bennàsar. The morning session ended with the Children’s race, won by DALLAS GAME and Paula Rotger.

The afternoon session started at 16:30 with the youngest and the Minitrot race, with ILUSIÓN RV and Arnau Riera as winners. Then the 6 races of the afternoon started, among which the awaited Breeder’s Grand Prix was held.
