The President of the Consell, Llorenç Galmés, highlighted in his opening speech, in front of more than 250 people, the consolidation of Mallorca as a world reference for sustainable tourism.
The Consell de Mallorca, in collaboration with UN Tourism, is holding the III Summit of Sustainable Destinations, between Thursday and tomorrow, 18 October, at the Hotel Zoetry Mallorca, which has started with a great successful attendance, more than 250 people on the first day.
The President of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, inaugurated a summit in which the Executive Director of the UNWTO, Zoritsa Urosevic, gave a welcome keynote. The Councillor for Tourism, José Marcial Rodríguez, and the island’s Director of Tourism, Susanna Sciacovelli, also hosted the meeting.

The 3rd Sustainable Destinations Summit kicks off in Mallorca with great success in attendance
During his speech, Galmés stressed that ‘Mallorca is a world reference point for tourism and with the holding of this congress it is consolidating its position as a leading destination in sustainable tourism’. Along these lines, the President of the Consell said he felt ‘very proud that tourism continues to be the economic engine that for decades has provided welfare and opportunities’. However, he stressed that ‘we are facing a decisive moment, with many challenges on the horizon to move towards a more sustainable future in all aspects: social, economic and environmental’.
