The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment presents the new range of forestry activities for the 2024-2025 school year
Once again this year, the activities proposed by Medio Natural focus on disseminating the values of the forests of the Balearic Islands, the services and products they provide to society, as well as the threats and the main problems they suffer. To this end, Xarxa Forestal offers a series of talks, workshops, forest visits to different forests, etc., designed to raise awareness of forest areas in schools and institutes and among the general public. You can consult the Guide and request forestry activities for the academic year 2024/2025 on the website xarxaforestal.org/activitats-forestals/.
A new addition to the range of informative material on offer is the publication Identificació de 30 plantes comunes dels boscos de les Illes Balears, aimed at all citizens interested in finding out about the most common emblematic plants of the island’s forests. It presents the 30 most common species of the more than 2,000 plants that form part of the native Balearic flora and that live in the forest, divided into four trees, 18 shrubs, five lianas and three herbaceous plants, illustrated with their most characteristic features and accompanied by their popular and scientific names.
It is also a tool for identifying these 30 plants through a simple key where, following the descriptions that most closely match the plant’s characteristics, the name of each plant can be easily found. It should be noted that 1,000 copies of this material have been published on paper and it is also available in digital format on the website xarxaforestal.org.
