The ports of Mallorca and Fornells will be affected by the new measures from the 2025 season onwards.
Ports de les Illes Balears (PortsIB) has approved the start of the procedure for the public tendering of authorisations for the use of ramps by boat hire companies, with the aim of ordering and rationalising the use of these infrastructures in the directly managed ports of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands from the 2025 season onwards.

The agreement will make it possible to regulate the occupation of boat ramps more efficiently, ensuring that authorisations are granted through a tendering process, under the principles of publicity and free competition. This responds to the need to guarantee maritime safety, the fluidity of port and land traffic, as well as the users of these facilities.
Furthermore, this measure is part of PortsIB’s strategy to guarantee the profitability of public assets and to promote economic activity in directly managed ports. The tendering process ensures that companies operate under clear and fair conditions, avoiding overloading the facilities and ensuring that the service is provided with maximum guarantees of safety and efficiency. This system will allow better long-term planning of the use of port infrastructures, adapting to the specific needs of each port and fostering competition between the different operators.
In particular, the number of authorisations for boat rental companies on the 6th list will be limited, adapting them to the capacity of each ramp and promoting safety and sustainability in ports. PortsIB may also choose to put certain ramps out to tender according to the particularities of each one and according to convenience.
The tender will be held in the ports of Mallorca and Fornells, allowing rental companies to use the ramps from the 2025 season onwards, in line with the entity’s commitment to guarantee efficient and sustainable management of the port public domain.
