This event has the collaboration of the employers’ associations Pimeco and Afedeco, and its aim is to encourage the consumption of local products and improve sales in traditional shops.
This Wednesday the Consell de Mallorca presented the 2nd Christmas Shop Window Competition, especially for the Three Wise Men, to fill the streets of the island with magic and tradition. This campaign has the collaboration of the sector’s employers’ associations, Afedeco and Pimeco, and has a dual purpose: to encourage the consumption of local products and improve sales in the island’s shops.

It also aims to revitalise the streets of the Mallorcan municipalities and promote the Christmas creativity of local traders, as well as contributing to the island’s economic dynamism.
During the presentation, the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, explained that this competition ‘is aimed at all shops on the island, except those in Palma – as it has its own campaign – and aims for each shop window to be a window onto the spirit of Christmas, especially celebrating the tradition of the Three Wise Men and the Christian tradition, all framed within Mallorcan traditions and to immerse us in the Christmas atmosphere’.
The councillor was accompanied by the island’s director of Commerce, Alfredo Arias, the president of Afedeco, Joana Manresa, and the president of Pimeco, Carolina Domingo.
Amate stressed the importance of this initiative ‘to support local commerce and transmit the authentic Christmas spirit’, adding that ‘we want each shop window to be an invitation to remember our traditions and to immerse ourselves in the magic of Christmas. This competition not only beautifies our streets, but also strengthens the sense of community and gives a much-needed boost to local commerce’.
Popular vote via QR code
Shop window decorations should include details that evoke the feast of the Three Wise Men or the birth of Jesus, allowing those strolling through the streets to enjoy a unique visual experience. In addition, the use of sustainable materials will be valued, as well as the creativity, lighting and originality of each design.
Voting will be popular and will be carried out by means of a QR code on each shop window, allowing citizens to choose their favourites. Ten finalists will be selected from among all the participants, whose decorations will be captured in a professional photo shoot and published on the social networks of the organising entities. The jury, made up of representatives from the Consell de Mallorca, Afedeco, Pimeco and design experts, will select the three final winners.
This year, the Christmas Shop Window Competition, special for the Three Wise Men, has doubled the value of the prizes, offering even greater incentives for the participating shops.
In addition, as a novelty, the ten finalists will receive a Christmas hamper with local products, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to promoting Mallorcan commerce and culture.
The three winners will receive prizes in the form of vouchers to spend in local shops. First prize will receive 2,000 euros, second prize 1,000 euros and third prize 500 euros. The winners will be announced on 20th December at a special ceremony and the results will be published on the websites and social networks of the Consell de Mallorca, Afedeco and Pimeco.
