The Consell de Mallorca has initially approved a historic budget for the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium, which represents a 58% increase over last year, allocating a total of 4,122,000 euros for the conservation, enhancement and care of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural landscape. This was explained by the Minister of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, accompanied by the island director of the Serra, Antoni Solivellas, and the manager of the Consortium, Lluís Vallcaneras, at the Committee of Experts, the Consortium’s high-level advisory body.

The Consell de Mallorca approves the largest budget in history for the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium
The Councilor of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, underscored that the budget increase ‘is a firm commitment to the conservation of our natural and cultural heritage. The Serra de Tramuntana is a treasure that we must preserve for future generations, and these investments are essential to guarantee its sustainability.
The Consortium’s calls for subsidies have been significantly increased for 2025. In detail, grants for farms have increased by 80%, reaching 180,000 euros, while those for land stewardship have increased by 33%, reaching 100,000 euros. A total of one million euros has been allocated for the recovery of elements and spaces, distributed in 700,000 euros for individuals and 300,000 euros for local councils. In addition, subsidies for the maintenance of agricultural and maritime landscapes amount to a total of 675,000 euros.
In addition, one million euros has been earmarked for creating an outreach centre to disseminate the values of the Serra de Tramuntana, its elements, and its heritage in the educational sphere. The Serra de Tramuntana island director pointed out that ‘this new space will be essential for raising awareness and educating about the importance of preserving this unique environment.
