The Consell de Govern has authorised the Councillor of Education and Universities to process this expenditure.
Students who have to travel outside their island of residence for university education will receive this subsidy
The Consell de Govern has authorised the Regional Minister of Education and Universities to process the expenditure of 2,265,766.00 euros derived from the call for travel grants for students from the Balearic Islands, registered on the island of Mallorca, who are studying at university in the European Union (EU-27) during the 2024-2025 academic year outside their island of residence.

The government will give travel grants worth 2.2 million to university students in Mallorca
Students residing in Mallorca who have to travel outside the island to take official university studies can benefit from this financial compensation for travel if they meet the minimum academic requirements in terms of the credits for which they have enrolled, provided that they cannot take these studies on their island of residence as students of the Universitat de les Illes Balears or its affiliated centres, either because the studies are not offered or because they have not obtained a place.
The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities intends to continue with the policy of financial aid for university students in the Balearic Islands: on the one hand, to guarantee a homogeneous and efficient provision of the public service of education that allows for the correction of inequalities due to insularity, and, on the other hand, to promote, within the budgetary limitations of the Regional Ministry, quality, competence and excellence in the academic performance of our university community.
It should be remembered that the travel grants for university students registered on the rest of the islands are organised by the island councils in coordination with the Regional Ministry, which provides part of the funding, as provided for in the 2025 Budget Bill.
