The Illes Balears Institute for Health Research receives a grant of 854,724 euros from the ‘SOIB Jove: Qualified Public Sector, University and Local Entities 2024’ programme.
The initiative will allow 23 young people to gain experience in the field of health research and improve their chances of finding employment.
The Balearic Islands Institute for Health Research (IdISBa) is participating in this programme promoted by the SOIB and funded by the European Union (ESF+) by hiring 23 qualified young people for 12 months, with an investment of 854,724 euros. More than 60 applicants took part in the selection process, which has now been completed, and today the latest additions have been made.

IdISBa boosts young talent: 23 new jobs for young researchers and technicians, thanks to the SOIB Jove programme
The ‘SOIB Jove: Qualified Public Sector, University and Local Entities 2024’ programme is aimed at unemployed young people (aged between 18 and 30), with university studies, higher vocational training or level 3 professional certification. It offers a unique opportunity to access the labour market and develop their skills in a professional environment.
A step forward in health research
IdISBa, thanks to the SOIB call for applications, is promoting new job opportunities in the health research sector. By incorporating qualified young people, the institute not only contributes to their professional development but also brings science and research closer to new generations. This IdISBa initiative allows future professionals to join pioneering research projects, fostering the advancement of scientific knowledge in key areas for the well-being of society.
New talent at IdISBa
Of the 23 young people joining IdISBa today, 19 positions will be assigned to the different research groups in areas such as microbiology, pneumology, cancer epigenetics, sepsis, nutrition, antibiotic resistance and advanced therapies. The remaining 4 positions will join the Institute’s management team, in departments such as human resources, communication, project management and recruitment, supporting the daily work of the research community.
The programme aims to improve the employability of the young people hired, providing practical experience in areas related to their academic training, which will improve their chances of finding employment at the end of the contract.
