With this aid, the organisation is promoting the growth, export and impact of the region’s culture beyond its territory.

The Institute of Cultural Industries of the Balearic Islands (ICIB) has published this Thursday a call for applications for grants with a total budget of 150,000 euros, to promote the international projection of Balearic audiovisual projects. An initiative that, beyond facilitating the international impact of this discipline, also reinforces the sector’s capacity to carry out solvent, viable, quality projects. Furthermore, it is aimed not only at projects that have already been completed but also at the export of proposals in the pre-production phase.

In the first place, and about works already completed, subsidies will be given for participation in professional events outside the island of origin, as well as for attendance at festivals or award ceremonies in which the project has been selected or nominated. Expenses related to the premiere of the piece outside the island of origin may also be covered. Similarly, promotional activities carried out to support its impact at the aforementioned festivals or professional meetings will also be eligible.

In the case of pre-production works, on the other hand, the grants encourage the presence of projects in international markets, co-production forums, residency programmes, incubators, workshops and audiovisual laboratories. In other words, they cover actions aimed at the development of the work, the search for financing or co-production, or the sale of the product itself. This grant also covers the implementation of an advertising strategy designed for the same purposes.

Each beneficiary, regardless of the number of projects presented, may receive a maximum grant of 25,000 euros, provided that the amount received does not exceed 80% of the budget. It should also be noted that the deadline for submitting applications will run from the day after publication in the BOIB until 31 December 2024.

This Friday, in order to explain the details of the call, the ICIB has led an informative meeting with the participation of about twenty attendees linked to the cultural industries sector. An initiative that responds to the institution’s effort to enable a productive dialogue and accompaniment with entities and individuals or legal entities interested in this grant.
