Authorisation of the agreement between the Government and the UIB for the management of the Balearic Research Complex
The transfer of space to the UIB in this complex facilitates the development of research activities by the university’s institutes and services, such as the Institute of Agri-environmental Research and Water Economics, the Institute of Community Code Computer Applications, the Institute of Interdisciplinary Physics and Complex Systems, and the Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing Service, among other specialised units.
As the owner of the building, the regional administration considers that the UIB, as the main assignee of the spaces and a public institution of reference in higher education, research, knowledge transfer and innovation in the Balearic Islands, is the most appropriate entity to assume its integral management. This responsibility is part of the objective of promoting projects directly linked to research, technological development and innovation.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Ministry of Education and Universities will allocate a total of 2,618,200 euros until 2027 to ensure the management and maintenance of the Balearic Research Complex.
