The Consell de Mallorca supported sports federations with 1,307,000 euros in 2024, an aid both for school-age activities and for improving the digitalisation of these entities’ different platforms. The second vice-president and sports councillor, Pedro Bestard, and the island director, Toni Prats, met today with the sports federations and reviewed the most important activities aimed at these entities and the novelties for 2025.
According to Bestard, ‘the aid granted to sports entities is included in the institution’s budget to support sporting practice and to improve competitive performance, without forgetting the educational aspect that has to guarantee physical activity for children’. The councillor also advanced that ‘the Consell has planned a new aid for sports and technological material that is expected to be announced in 2026’.

The Consell de Mallorca has granted 1.307.000 euros to the sports federations in 2024
The ‘Federated School Sport’ programme includes all the federations that can justify the existence of a calendar of competitions aimed at school children. Out of almost fifty of these entities in our community, more than 75% form part of the programme, and the rest can do so as long as they meet the aforementioned requirement.
These aids are important because they make it possible to finance a large part of the sporting competitions scheduled in the federations’ calendars, aimed at 34,000 children, through more than 750 clubs in Mallorca.

The technicians of the Insular Directorate of Sports have also highlighted the main novelties for 2025. Among the most outstanding is the subsidy to the sports fabric, which in 2025 will increase from 700,000 euros to 900,000 euros, 22% more than in 2024; or the future call for the acquisition of sports and technological material, which is planned to be launched in 2026.
