Thanks to the collaboration agreement with the FIL, the IEB is taking part this year with its stand and an exhibition in the fair’s comics hall.

The FIL, which is held from 30 November to 8 December, is the most important publishing event dedicated to literature in Latin America. It is a fair for professionals as well as a cultural festival open to the public, in which literature is the backbone, with a programme featuring authors from all continents and in different languages.

With the strategic objective of promoting the creative fabric of Balearic comics, the IEB has invited a representative of the Comic and New Media Cluster to attend the fair to make the work of this association visible and disseminate it, with special attention to the Cómic Nostrum festival. The organisers of the Comic Fair have also invited Marta Masana, a representative of the Cluster, to take part in a meeting in which some of the most important comic festival organisers from all over the world take part.

As in previous years, the IEB collaborates directly with the FIL to invite authors from the Balearic Islands to participate in the programme of activities of the Salón del Cómic. This year the participating authors are Álex Fito and Tomeu Pinya. The workshops they are giving are ‘Create your aliens!’, with Álex Fito, and ‘Narration on the Comic Page’, by Tomeu Pinya. In addition, the technician Karen Müller will hold meetings with international publishers, especially from Latin America, to expand the network of professional contacts and promote the works of authors from the Balearic Islands.

In addition, the IEB’s participation is accompanied by an exhibition showing posters of recent book covers published by fifteen comic authors from the Balearic Islands, including Max, Bartolomé Seguí, Linhart, Anapurna and Anabel Colazo. In addition, the IEB stand is decorated with illustrations from the book Karmen, by Guillem March.

In this edition, Spain is the guest of honour at the fair. The authors Biel Mesquida, Fernando Mallo and Joana Marcus are taking part in the programme of literary activities organised by the IEB. And in the section dedicated to illustration, FILustra, the Ibizan Violeta Lópiz is taking part.
