The Regional Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility, motivated by the large increase in registered applications, has extended the deadline to apply for public aid for the rehabilitation of homes and buildings. With this new extension of the deadline, published today in the BOIB, interested parties will have until 30 June 2025 to submit applications, and not until 31 December of this year as previously stipulated.

The measure will allow interested parties to prepare the documentation to be able to benefit from the economic aid offered by this call, financed with European Next Generation funds, and for which the rate of management and concession has increased significantly in the last year and a half. This improvement has come about especially since the launch of an advertising campaign to publicise the aid and the importance and advantages of improving homes from the point of view of energy saving.

The Government extends the deadline to apply for aid for energy rehabilitation of housing until 30 June 2025

So far, of the total of 29.5 million euros received from the three programmes for which the deadline has been extended, the Government has granted almost 20 million euros (19.96 million), while only one million had been granted up to October 2023, before the advertising campaign was launched.

With the extension of the deadline, it is expected that once the call for applications is closed, more than 6,000 homes will have been able to carry out actions aimed at improving energy efficiency. In addition, almost a year ago the Conselleria already extended the deadline to be eligible for these grants, which ended on 31 December 2023 and was extended by one year, for the whole of 2024.

It should be remembered that this subsidy may involve the financing of up to 80 % of the costs, in the case of the programme for buildings, 40 % of the investment in the case of housing, and also that it is aid with tax advantages, such as exemption from IBI or the reduction of fees and taxes to apply for the licence.

This call for applications makes it possible to finance different actions for the improvement or rehabilitation of homes and single-family or multi-family buildings, such as the modification of enclosures, the replacement of windows or the change of air conditioning systems that replace fossil energies with renewable energies or biomass. They are also intended for the drafting of the building book or technical rehabilitation projects.

As for the beneficiaries, they can be owners or co-owners of residential buildings. They can be natural persons of legal age who are resident in the Balearic Islands and have Spanish nationality. In the case of foreigners, they must have legal residence in Spain.

The grants in this call are financed with European Next Generation EU funds, and come from the Ministry of Housing and the Urban Agenda, specifically from the programme ‘Implementation of the Spanish Urban Agenda: Urban Rehabilitation and Regeneration Plan’, promoted through the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, regulated by the European institutions in February 2021.
