The Department of Economy and General Services establishes collaboration agreements with the associations of the two sectors

The Department of Economy and General Services of the Consell Insular de Menorca has approved two collaboration agreements with the Vi Menorca Association and the Oli de Menorca Association for the year 2024.

In the first case, the Consell Insular will allocate 12,000 euros to the Vi Menorca Association to support campaigns to publicise and promote Menorcan wine, as well as training activities for professionals in the island’s wine sector carried out by the association between 1 January and 31 December 2024, with the aim of increasing awareness of this product and improving its promotion and marketing.

The actions to be carried out within the framework of this agreement are:

  • Attendance and expenses for local or national firas, wine competitions, local promotional events and presentation of professional wines.
  • Promotional actions: advertisements, publicity, updating information on the website and communication strategy in local and specialised media.
  • Training of producers and customers. Expenses for speakers, venue and event.

‘The wine activity is an important complement to the island’s gastronomic offer and at the same time a tourist and cultural attraction. Touring the wineries and their plantations is another attraction for Menorcans and their visitors, and therefore, in general, it promotes the diversification of agricultural activity and the improvement of Menorca’s rural economy,’ explains the councillor, Maria Antònia Taltavull.

On the other hand, the Consell Insular also grants aid of 10,000 euros to the Asociación Oli de Menorca, a non-profit association set up in 2014 with the aim of promoting and defending the interests of olive oil and olive oil producers on the island of Menorca and ensuring the quality of their products.

The purpose of this agreement is to support the dissemination and promotion activities carried out by the association from 1 January to 31 December 2024. The actions to be carried out include, among others, the presentation of the new PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) oil for the year 2024, advertising in different media and attending trade fairs.

In both cases, the last day for submitting justification will be 15 January 2025.
