The Viu la Cultura programme of the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats is organising the concert Cançonetes de Nadal (Christmas Songs)
More than 900 pupils from different schools in Mallorca will attend the show on 17th December in three shifts: at 10 am, 11:15 am and 12:30 pm.
Christmas carols form part of our intangible heritage and we recognise them as an expression of our traditional culture. Teachers on the islands have recently completed a very important task of recovering the entire repertoire of children’s songs and carols. For this reason, in this concert, they will perform popular carols from the Catalan tradition, others from the Balearic Islands, some more international ones and also newly created melodies.
Posidònia Folk, the Mallorcan group, under the direction of Marta Elka, will present its project to share Christmas through music and carols, in a didactic concert with folk and traditional rhythms in which children will actively participate and enjoy singing and listening to the traditional carols of the Balearic Islands.
