President Galmés acknowledges the task of the media at the Christmas Cup of the Consell de Mallorca

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, wished the media a good Christmas and a happy new year during the traditional Christmas drink held this morning at Palma’s Teatro Principal.

The event was attended by journalists and representatives of the different media of Mallorca, as well as the executive councillors and spokespersons of the different political groups of the island’s institution.

The president thanked the journalists for their work in bringing all the information and news of the Consell de Mallorca to society and encouraged them to continue doing so with rigour, plurality, critical spirit, and independence.

Llorenç Galmés also took the opportunity to take stock of the year. They said that ‘the media are essential to publicise our government’s actions and everything we do for the benefit of the citizens of Mallorca’. He also stressed that in ‘an era marked by fake news and artificial intelligence, and where it is increasingly difficult to differentiate between what is real and what is not, the media play an essential role in contrasting information’.
