These are vacancies offered by the free shift to expand the staff in several departments.
The Mallorca Railway Services (SFM) has published today in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) the call for a new public offer of employment by the competitive examination system for 12 new positions. The call includes the specific bases, the syllabus and the merit scales of the competition phase for the new vacancies offered by the free shift of SFM’s labour staff.

SFM publishes the announcement of a new public offer of employment to incorporate 12 new employees
The list of positions offered is as follows: operations inspector (1), supervision and intervention unit (2), administrative (2), technical services assistant (2), line safety officer (1), rolling stock safety officer (1), head of the General and Economic Services Area (1), train driver (1) and station manager (1).
The deadline for submitting applications is twenty working days from the day following the day of publication, i.e. interested parties may register their application between 18 December and 21 January (both inclusive). The presentation and formalisation of the application form must be carried out through the telematic process specified in the rules. Applicants who have taken part in the selective tests of this call for applications and pass the competitive examination and examination phase but do not obtain a place will be included in a specific pool for the professional category of access.
The tests are scheduled to take place between April and May of next year and the new employees will be able to join the company before the end of 2025.
The 12 new posts offered in this call for applications correspond to the ordinary public job offers for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023. In recent years, these processes to expand the workforce had been stagnant and have now been reactivated, thanks to the work of the Human Resources Department of SFM, to add new public employees to the railway company, with a lack of staff in many of its departments in relation to the growth in demand that is being experienced and because of the forecast to continue expanding in the coming years.
In 2024, SFM has increased its workforce with 17 new employees, who started last July. They are 14 new train drivers, 2 administrative staff and 1 traffic factor (technician in charge of railway traffic control). It should be remembered that since 2007 no public offer of employment has been completed to incorporate new staff to the public railway company.
