The Consell de Mallorca reinforces municipalism and will allocate 30 million euros to the town councils in 2025

This item represents 65% of the total budget of the department headed by the councillor for Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate, which will have a total budget of 43.2 million euros for next year, demonstrating ‘the current government’s firm commitment to municipalism’, she said.

‘This is a historic figure because we are aware that more investment in our municipalities translates into more and better services and, therefore, a better quality of life for Mallorcans,’ said Amate, who pointed out that between 2024 and 2025 the budget for the Works and Services Plan will have doubled, to a total of 40 million euros “which will be available to local councils to undertake the works or projects they consider most necessary”.

Thus, of the total budget of the Island Directorate for Local Development, 20 million euros will be allocated to the Works and Services Plan (POS); 3.5 million euros to the sustainable energy and climate action plans (Paesc); and 5 million euros planned for aid for the water cycle.

Thus, during the first quarter of the year, 23.5 million euros will be allocated to pay the second advance of the POS and Paesc subsidy calls. These subsidies are biannual, so the allocation is in addition to the 23 million euros already granted and paid in 2024 for these same concepts.

As Pilar Amate explained, with the payment in the first few months of the year ‘we are fulfilling our commitment to speed up the payment of aid so that the local councils have access to these funds as soon as possible, and we are guaranteeing them sufficient liquidity to be able to carry out all the projects to which they have committed and for which they have been granted these advances’.
