Christmas is back, and with this festive season also comes the campaign to promote local produce ‘Aixó Sí es Nadal’, promoted by the Department of Rural and Marine Affairs of the Consell Insular de Eivissa to encourage the consumption of local produce as the basis of Christmas menus.

In a meeting with the local producers at the Ibiza Council headquarters, the president and councillor of the department, Vicent Marí, thanked them for ‘their work and efforts to carry on with a sector, the primary sector, which is fundamental for our food and the conservation of the environment’, and encouraged everyone to continue buying local produce ‘, especially during this festive season when we will be enjoying the good flavours of Ibiza on the table’.
The local producers of this initiative could display their products: herbs, oil, bread, honey, sweets, cheese, potatoes, cabbage, eggs, wine, cheese, sobrassada… products to bring to the table at Christmas. There was also a tasting of Salsa de Navidad by chef Marga Orell.
By buying products from Ibiza, as well as acquiring high quality products and bringing original flavours to our dishes, we also favour the conservation of our territory and landscape, collaborating with the work of many small producers and processors who strive every day so that we can have in our shops the best of the land and the sea.
During these Christmas days, these products can be found in the collaborating shops with distinctive labelling and signage.
Christmas is a time to get together and revive traditions, one of the major festivals in the Ibizan calendar, and as a festival, good food cannot be missing and our most authentic gastronomy uses the best Ibizan products that are the basis of dishes such as ‘sufrido labrador’, baked lamb, ‘porcella’, Christmas sauce, sponge cake…
The island’s director of Rural and Marine Affairs, Joan Marí, also attended the presentation of this Christmas campaign.
