President Galmés highlights the ‘bravery and solidarity’ of Mallorca’s Firefighters in his Christmas speech

President Llorenç Galmés listed some of the milestones achieved, such as the extension of the Comprehensive Home Care Service for dependent people at weekends and on public holidays, the creation of 85 new public places in residential homes, with the opening of two new centres: Miquel Mir, in Inca, and Las Hermanitas, in Palma, and the setting up of the first centre on the island to attend to victims of sexual violence 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The president of the island’s institution also paid special tribute to the firefighters of Mallorca for their bravery and solidarity. ‘Faced with the worst natural disaster this country has experienced in the last century, 60 firefighters from Mallorca have travelled to Valencia as volunteers to help in the recovery efforts. A fact for which we are deeply grateful’ said Galmés.

The president of the Consell de Mallorca stressed that ‘the tragic floods remind us of the importance of having strong emergency services with the necessary resources. Being aware of this, since 2023 we have increased their budget by 30% to renew the fleet of vehicles, improve their working conditions and build the future parks of Manacor and Santanyí’.
