The Inca Town Council has approved the modification and updating of the Urban Allotment Regulations, in force since 2013, to facilitate access to municipal allotments and streamline the procedures for their adjudication. This revision introduces significant improvements to make them more inclusive and adapted to the current needs of citizens.

Inca streamlines and makes the Urban Allotments more accessible with the modification of the regulations
One of the main changes is the creation of a permanent pool of applicants. Applications will now be sorted only by date of registration. Thus, at present, individuals who wish to be part of the applicant pool must meet the following requirements:
- Not be the successful bidder of a plot of land at the time of application.
- Be over 65 years of age or be in a situation of early retirement.
- Be a resident of Inca for at least two years without interruption.
- Not live in the same household with a person who has already applied for or been awarded a plot.
- Not to be part of the same family unit as a person who has already applied for or been awarded a plot.
- Not having been previously deprived of a plot, after a previous application.
The possibility of ceding plots of land to non-profit organisations to promote community projects has also been included. Likewise, the conditions for the awarding and terms of concession, which will be up to 5 years, have been clearly defined.
Thus, as the councillor for the Environment, Helena Cayetano, points out, ‘this modification is a step forward in guaranteeing that the urban allotments are a space for integration and sustainability, where more and more people can enjoy them’.
Interested citizens can consult the new regulations, obtain further information and submit their applications through the Environment Department of the Inca Town Council: 871 914 300 / mediambient@ajinca.net.
Finally, it should be noted that urban gardens are spaces of land for horticultural use located in urban or peri-urban areas that foster social relations, create an alternative for leisure time, provide economic and health benefits and become a tool for civic education and environmental awareness.
Due to the social demand for the possibility of growing vegetables due to the loss of food quality, the general deterioration of the environment and the need to enjoy some time, activity and space in the open air, Inca Town Council initiated this project intending to achieve a more sustainable city and a better quality of life for its inhabitants, through the recovery of traditional agriculture and integrating the countryside into the city.
Thus, in our municipality, we have a public space such as the Serral de ses Monges Park, where a sufficient area has been set aside for the creation of 50 m2 organic vegetable gardens.
