The Consell de Mallorca will double the number of monthly ITV appointments from 1 January and open the new booking portal: ITV.mallorca.es
The entry of the new service concessionaire will allow the number of inspections to increase from 480,000 to 650,000 per year, with an increase of 55 workers and the opening of the new station in Calvià.
The new contract for the Technical Inspection of Vehicles (ITV) service will allow the Consell de Mallorca to double the number of appointments during the first months of the year, going from the 20,000 monthly inspections carried out until now to 40,000 as of the 1st of January, thus reducing the waiting lists. The new contract will also mean an annual increase of 35%, from 480,000 to 650,000 inspections each year. This will be possible thanks to the hiring of 55 new workers, the opening of the new Calvià station in the first weeks of January and a new system that speeds up the time per inspected vehicle.

The Consell de Mallorca is also providing users with a new portal for booking appointments: ITV.Mallorca.es. A website where users can book a day and time and make the payment to go directly to the inspection without having to go to the offices. The service and data are currently being transferred between the former concessionaire SGS and the new contractor, ITV Vega Baja. This is a complex transfer, but as of 1 January, it is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
The Consell de Mallorca awarded the new service last July. After resolving a series of appeals in which the courts ruled in favour of the island’s institution, the definitive award was made last November for a sum of 33 million euros over the next two years. The new contract with ITV Vega Baja foresees the opening of the new station in the Son Bugadelles industrial estate in Calvià, with 9,000 monthly inspections starting in January. All of this will be possible thanks to the increase in the workforce with up to 55 new workers, 30 of which will be for the new station in Calvià and the rest will be distributed among the stations in Palma, Inca and Manacor.
It should be remembered that the Consell de Mallorca has made great efforts over the last year to reduce the waiting list. Among other things, the contract for the Calvià mobile station, which was due to close in June 2023, was extended, which would have meant leaving more than 4,000 monthly inspections without being carried out. It has also been open on Saturdays for some months to speed up inspections. Now, with the new contract, it is expected that the service will have far fewer waiting days for the technical inspection of vehicles.
