The Government has made the advance payment of the birth tax deduction to 748 taxpayers for a value of 328,000 €
The possibility of obtaining this advance payment, without having to wait to file the income tax return, is a pioneering measure among all the autonomous communities in Spain and became effective on 1 November after receiving the approval of the Tax Advisory Council and the Consultative Council of the Balearic Islands. The application must be made within fifteen working days of the birth of the child. Submission after this deadline will result in the automatic rejection of the application, without prejudice to the right to apply the deduction in the corresponding tax return.
In addition, the deduction for births has been improved with the approval of Law 7/2024, of 11 December, on administrative simplification and rationalisation of the public administrations of the Balearic Islands, in the following terms: the income thresholds to benefit from the deduction have been increased, up to 52,800 € in individual taxation, and 84,480 € in joint taxation. On the other hand, if these income thresholds are exceeded, the taxpayer may also apply the deduction at 50% of the total amounts – €800 for the first child, €1,000 for the second, €1,200 for the third and €1,400 for the fourth and subsequent children.
