The Department of Culture, Education, Youth and Sports awards 314 grants to sporting entities

The insular administration has distributed the total of the global amount marked in the call: 440.000 euros.

The Consell Insular de Menorca has awarded a total of 314 grants for the promotion of sport and physical activity on the island of Menorca to non-profit sports organisations. These are aimed at promoting sport, the management and operation of associations, the organisation and dissemination of activities, participation in competitions outside the island and the training of sports coaches.

Within the period established in the call for applications, 346 applications were received at the registry of the Consell Insular, of which 314 were granted, which means that 90.75% of the total applications were accepted.

Line 1, aimed at the maintenance and support of sports entities – sports clubs and the maintenance and support of sports entities – federations, with a budget of 185,000 euros, and line 2, aimed at travel and accommodation to participate in competitions outside Menorca, with 130,000 euros, has been the most popular lines with 96 and 267 applications respectively. Meanwhile, line 3 has received 20 applications, line 4 has received 45, line 5 has received 18, line 6 only 9 and line 7 a total of 17.

In this way, one of the points of the call considered that if a line does not exhaust the budget appropriation, the remaining amount will be allocated to line 2 and then to line 1A. Therefore, given the applications received, the distribution of the overall amount of the call for proposals of 440,000 euros has been modified.

  • Line 1A: the planned amount of 175,000 euros. The final amount of 210,330.38 euros.
  • Line 1B: estimated amount of EUR 10 000. The final amount of EUR 10,000.
  • Line 2: the planned amount of EUR 130,000. The final amount of EUR 144,862.96.
  • Line 3: the planned amount of EUR 15,000. The final amount of 13,907.88 euros.
  • Line 4: the planned amount of EUR 15,000. The final amount of 9,939.70 euros.
  • Line 5: the planned amount of EUR 30,000. The final amount of 23,934.89 euros.
  • Line 6: the planned amount of EUR 45,000. The final amount of EUR 7,912.19.
  • Line 7: the planned amount of EUR 20,000. The final amount of 20,000 euros.

The total amount of aid distributed is 440,000 euros. The 32 applications rejected are because they are not correctly registered as sports entities, because they do not accredit the completion of the courses or, as most of them, because they do not comply with the requirements of the regulatory bases.
