The event, organised by Produccions de Ferro with the support of the Palma Town Hall, will be held on the 10th, 11th and 18th of January.
The Director General of Music and Performing Arts, Rafel Brunet, attended the presentation of the eleventh edition of the Torneo de Dramaturgia de las Islas Baleares (Balearic Islands Playwriting Tournament), which will be held on 10th January (first semi-final), 11th January (second semi-final) and 18th January (final).
In all cases, the sessions will take place at 8 pm in the Mar i Terra Municipal Theatre, organised by Produccions de Ferro, with the support of the Palma Town Hall and the SGAE Foundation, and sponsored by Estrella Damm and the Malvasía de Banyalbufar Cooperative.

The Mar i Terra Municipal Theatre to host the eleventh edition of the Balearic Islands Playwriting Tournament
The authors participating in this new edition are Josep Ramon Cerdà, Carla Nyman, Marta Sánchez and Antonio Manuel Morales, who will add their names to the 40 playwrights from the Balearic Islands who, throughout the history of this event, have seen their texts performed by a total of 120 actors and actresses.
This year, the young theatre company Ovnipresents takes on the role of master of ceremonies of the Tournament and will be in charge of presenting the competition over the three days of the event.
On the other hand, the performers, both from the archipelago and Catalonia, taking part in this year’s edition are Aleix Melé, Miquel Gelabert, Muminu Diallo, Sara Sánchez, Mamen Duch, David Marcé, Yolanda Sey, Pau Vinyals, Rebeca del Fresno, Sofía Muñiz, Marina Nicolau, Carlos Molinet and Ricard Farré.
According to the organisers, through the director of Producciones de Hierro, Toni Gomila, during the presentation held at the Palma Town Hall, one of the great positive effects of the event is its capacity to promote and promote the participating texts.
Thus, the winning play in the previous edition, Polvo de diamante (Diamond Dust), an original by Pau Goya, was produced by the Sala Versus, in Barcelona, to great critical and public acclaim. In addition, the author was one of the participants in the Catalan Playwriting Tournament of the Temporada Alta Festival, held in Girona, under the title El nombre querido.
The texts that won in previous editions are the following: Al Berta, by David Mataró (2022); Escalar un gigante, by Bernat Molina (2021); Mami Fera’, by Mar Pla (2020); Seguí, by Laura Gost (2019); Nür, by Joan Fullana (2018); No me harás creer que la Virgen María Mariona, by Xisco Rosselló (2017); Before I Sell the German, by Marta Barceló (2016), and The Class, by Sergi Baos, which won the first Balearic Islands Playwriting Tournament, held in 2015.
