The Government will have more than 27 million in additional aid for energy rehabilitation of housing with European funds

The Regional Minister for Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, accompanied by the Director General for Housing and Architecture, José Francisco Reynés, has informed that the Autonomous Community will have an extraordinary contribution of 27.67 million after having achieved the two objectives set by the Ministry of Housing and the Urban Agenda. Both for issuing a minimum of 50% of favourable resolutions and for reaching 75% of applications, before 31 December 2024, to the total, as established in Royal Decree 853/2021, which regulates the aid programmes for housing under the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.

The Regional Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility, through this Directorate General, has exponentially increased the rate of management and granting of this aid over the last year and a half. Of the total 29.5 million euros received from European funds for the three programmes, only one million euros had been granted by October 2023. The Government has already granted almost 21 million euros, and the rate of applications and grants continues to be high. In terms of the number of dwellings, almost 4,300 dwellings have been registered with favourable resolutions for these three programmes.

In the distribution by islands, Mallorca has so far accumulated around 3,593 homes with favourable resolutions, with an amount of aid granted of 12.8 million. In Eivissa and Formentera, the aid amounts to 4.8 million, with a total of 439 homes; while in Menorca it totals 2.7 million and currently reaches 257 homes.

With the increase in the amount of aid, a significant increase is expected on all the islands. The extraordinary contribution of more than 27 million will be allocated to the two aid programmes with the highest demand, which allow for housing and building rehabilitation actions.

Extension of the deadline for applications to 30 June 2025

All those interested in improving their homes from the point of view of energy saving may submit applications for the call for aid for energy rehabilitation of housing until 30 June 2025. The Government has extended the deadline once again, given that it was due to end on 31 December 2024, and had previously extended the deadline by one year, as it was initially only for 2023.

It should be remembered that this subsidy can finance up to 80 % of the costs, in the case of the programme for buildings; 40 % of the investment in the case of housing, making it possible to finance different actions for the improvement or rehabilitation of houses and single-family or multi-family buildings, such as the modification of enclosures, the change of windows or the change of air conditioning systems that replace fossil energies with renewable energies or biomass. It is also intended for the drafting of the building book or technical rehabilitation projects.

Those interested should contact the rehabilitation offices of the professional associations on each island to make the application and take the necessary steps, and more information can be found on the website www.orbaleares.com.

The Government manages this aid in collaboration with the various professional associations: the Official Association of Architects of the Balearic Islands, the Official Association of Quantity Surveyors and Technical Architects of each island (Mallorca, Menorca and Eivissa and Formentera), and the Official Association of Property Administrators of the Balearic Islands.
