The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation has issued a communiqué in which it stresses that this agreement must culminate in a definitive cessation of hostilities and emphasises that Spain is ready to offer large-scale humanitarian aid.
Spain welcomes the conclusion of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas to end the violence in the Gaza Strip, the massive influx of humanitarian aid and the release of the hostages still held captive. Sixteen months after the terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023, the conflict has left an unbearable number of casualties in Gaza and has led to an escalation of tension at the regional level. This agreement must culminate in a definitive cessation of hostilities.

Government welcomes ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza
Spain wishes to acknowledge the work of the mediating countries, Qatar, Egypt and the United States and is committed to supporting the implementation of the agreement by the parties and to stabilising the situation, for which the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza and the humanitarian work of UNRWA, which must be able to continue operating in the Strip, will be essential.
Spain is ready to provide large-scale humanitarian aid as soon as possible.
This agreement is a first step that must be followed by further steps to implement the two-state solution, which is the only path to peace in the region.
