The Institute of Balearic Studies (IEB) holds the first ceremony for the awarding of grants for creation and research

Grants worth 690,000 euros have been awarded.
The event took place today, 15th January, at the Miró Mallorca Foundation.

The Instituto de Estudios Baleáricos (IEB) held today, in the auditorium of the Fundación Miró Mallorca, the ceremony for the awarding of grants for creation and research, which in 2024 totalled 690,000 euros. This is the first time that the Govern de Mallorca has staged a joint event to award this type of aid.

This event aims to give public recognition to all those people and entities that have benefited from IEB grants for their work and dedication in the field of creation and research in the Balearic Islands.

During the event, presided over by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Jaume Bauzà, together with the director of the Institute of Balearic Studies, Llorenç Perelló, and presented by the Mallorcan actress and communicator Apol-lònia Serra, the diplomas of recognition were handed out to the beneficiaries in attendance.

Llorenç Perelló, director of the IEB, pointed out that ‘the celebration and creation of this event is very important to publicise the work and dedication in the field of creation and research in our islands, and also to publicise the support they receive from this institution’.

On the other hand, minister Jaume Bauzà stressed that ‘from the Government, we will continue working to strengthen support for the cultural, linguistic and academic sector, to ensure that the Balearic Islands continue to be a benchmark in innovation, quality and cultural diversity’.

The event organised by the IEB included an exhibition of some of the projects of the lines of creation and research of the year 2023.

In this sense, in the field of creation, there were live performances by Francesca Vadell, from the category of performing arts, with a fragment of the piece SOLC; Anaïs Franer, from the line of literature, comics and illustration, with an interpretation of a fragment of the work Una conversa lenta, and the performance of the artist MDMAR, in the category of music. In addition, as a sample of the visual arts discipline, attendees were given a paper publication of the work Millet de Saigón, by Nuria Marqués.

Finally, as a sample of the research aid, using visual panels, the attendees were able to contemplate the work Inventari i estudi de l’arxiu musical del comtat de Torre-Saura (Ciutadella de Menorca), by Laura Triay Tudurí.
